Breast Cancer Awareness!

Since October is all about Breast Cancer Awareness I thought I'd make a post about how to do a self - examination to check for breast cancer!

Shower Test:
  • Place right hand , palm flat, against the back of your head
  • With the fingertips of your left hand, press lightly, then firmly, against your entire right breast to feel for lumps
  • Switch hands and repeat to the other side, using your right hand to check your left breast.
Mirror Test:
  • Stand straight with hands on hips. Check in the mirror for any changes in breast texture, shape, size, nipple appearance, or unusual discharge.
Lying-down Test:
  • Lie down with a small pillow or folded towel under your left shoulder and left hand behind your head
  • Use your right hand to check your left breast and under armpit.
  • Move the pillow under right shoulder, switch arm positions and repeat the process using left hand to check right breast
You should repeat this self exam every month! Contact your doctor if you see any changes or abnormalities!

Free Carol's Daughter Sample!

So it turns out blogging on a tab wasn't as easy as I thought it'd be... So when I had some time I went and traded it in for an actual laptop. I actually ended up hating the Toshiba Thrive. It was really nice and pretty much the best that tabs had to offer.. But it was just a giant version of my phone and I didn't like it at all. And I really suggest you don't get it unless you like browsing on smart phones. Because when you go online they give you the mobile version of the page.

Okay so I haven't been keeping up with my blog and I feel terrible! Between work and technical difficulties.. But I'm for sure back now! (: And I'm going to give you guys a free sample of Carol's Daughter Macadamia Smoother!

I hope you all enjoy this sample! (:

Quick Tip! [Eyes]

Want to add color to your look but you're too afraid to try colored shadows? Or are you tired of using white to "open up" your eyes? Well a great way to add a pop of color is to apply a colored eyeliner to your waterline and lower lash line! I love doing this! It really makes your eyes pop and it looks amazing!

Splurge! You can get them at Sephora from Urban Decay, Benefit, and even Sephora is carrying them now. There's a huge range of colors. Save! But the ones I op for are at drugstores! Wet N Wild has some great ones for just .70 cents! They're not as soft and creamy as the high end ones but they still work great!

Run the pencil along your waterline a few times and then apply the same color shadow on top to seal it and have it last longer. (: I hope you guys are liking these quick tips!

Quick Tip! [Eyes]

Want your eyes to look extra flirty? Apply glitter to your lashes! Curl them and apply several coats of your favorite mascara and let them dry. Take a small brush and dip it into a loose glittery pigment, tap out the excess, and run the brush along your lashes. This will help them reflect light and really draw attention to your eyes! Apply as much or as little as you like!

Want more glitter? Run your brush under your lower lash line with whatever is left of the glitter.

I don't know about you but I can't get enough glitter! I think this is a great way to add some oomph to your look without being too dramatic!

Time Saving Tips!

Whenever I'm running late or need to be ready in minutes I get stressed! I feel like there's not enough time to do my makeup properly and I feel self conscious for the rest of the day. Well if you have this same problem I've got tips that will help save you tons of time and get your makeup done in minutes!

#1: Eyes-
Dust a light, neutral, shimmery shadow all over your lids and into your crease. I like to add a bit in my inner corners and a tiny amount on my brow bone. For a quick and easy application use a blending brush or your fingers! The shadow I recommend - Victoria's Secret Baked Shadow in Glow Gold. $5

Instead of struggling with liquid, gel, or a pencil eyeliner [unless you're a pro at applying these] use an eyeliner crayon. It's a lot easier to smudge and stray marks can be blended out easily.

#2: Face-
Instead of layering your moisturizer, primer, and foundation mix the three together and apply all over your face and neck. Or I like to use a tinted moisturizer. It's easy to apply and blend and it'll save you time. And for added coverage apply powder on top. [E.L.F has one for only $3!]

#3: Reapplying -
Instead of reapplying your foundation, powder, and blush. Add a few drops of liquid illuminator onto your skin. You'll look dewy and fresh in seconds and it conceals imperfections.

#4: Multifunctional-
Lipstick! This product is amazing! Pick a light pink or coraly color. This will work as your lipstick and blush! Dab some color onto your fingertips or directly on your cheeks, don't use too much, and with your fingers blend it in.

Eyeshadow! The one I mentioned above also works as a highlight! Just sweep a small amount onto the tops of your cheek bones! And your face will look instantly brighter.

#5: Lashes-
Want lots of length? Curl your lashes, apply a few coats of your favorite lengthening mascara, curl again, and apply one last coat of mascara.

Want voluminous looking lashes? Run a black eyeliner along your tight line a few times. Your lashes will look thicker and fuller!

I really hope these tips help you! Everything can be done with your hands. Just remember to wash them or take a makeup removing wipe! If you have any more time saving tips just leave them in a comment below! (:

Clinique's Acne Solutions 3 Step

Hey guys! Since so many of us are at a constant battle with acne I thought I'd review these products. I use to have a lot of problems with acne. I didn't have a severe issue but I always had at least 1 or 2 zits. And I had no clue about makeup or how to hide them. So my mom bought me these products.

You can get the starter kit for only $32.50. I suggest you buy this first.. It's kinda pricey but you're getting 3 products. And it's a lot cheaper than buying the 3 full sized products and have them irritate your skin or not work at all.

Acne Solutions Clear Skin System:

The Clear Skin System wastes no time in giving blemishes the boot. Does it without the dryness and irritation that generally gets skin into trouble. It's simple, scientific. Gentle exfoliation opens clogged pores, evicts blemish-causing bacteria. Targeted ingredients rush in to accelerate treatment. Keeps skin clearer, longer, too.

Step 1 - Cleansing Foam:
$18.50 4.2 fl oz
Lather up with this mild, medicated cleanser. Helps clear and prevent acne by removing dirt and excess oil. Unclogs pores. Calms, soothes, reduces redness. Plus, leaves skin feeling soft, smooth, comfortable.

I found this foaming cleanser to be very gentle. I'm more of an exfoliator girl but I really liked this. It made my skin feel clean and soft. I'm not sure if it helped my redness but it did really clean my skin.

Step 2 - Clarifying Lotion:
$14 6.7 fl oz
Sweeps away dead surface skin cells and excess oil that can lead to breakouts. Gentle, medicated formula exfoliates skin, unclogs pores. Helps calm, soothe irritation and redness. Oil-absorbing powders control shine.

I felt that this product really cleaned my skin. I would put a bit on a cotton pad and swipe this all over my face and even neck. This removed all the dirt that my cleanser didn't get. My face always felt tingly and cool after.

Step 3 - Clearing Moisturizer:
$17 1.7 fl oz
Powerful Benzoyl Peroxide helps treat existing acne and prevent future breakouts. Lightweight, medicated formula creates an invisible, breathable barrier against acne-causing agents. Calms, soothes, reduces redness. Helps control excess oil throughout the day. Provides light hydration to minimize dryness and peeling.

This moisturizer isn't one of my favorites. But I do like it. It feels really light and non-greasy on your skin. And it doesn't feel sticky like a lot of moisturizers can. And it has benzoyl peroxide as an ingredient which is a plus! But a lot of people can be sensitive to it!

Overall:
I really liked this regimen. It helped reduce my acne. It was really gentle and it didn't irritate my skin at all. I didn't have any problems with it. I bought all full sized products and it lasted me about 3 months with daily use. Eventually, like with all products my skin began to build an immunity against it and it stopped working for me. But it was great while it lasted! I didn't repurchase these products because they are pretty expensive and I found alternatives that work just as well and even better! But I think that this system is worth a shot! And I definitely recommend this!

If you want to purchase it online:

Clinique offers an entire line of makeup in this Acne Solutions line. I even purchased the foundation and concealer! I totally recommend that you visit your local counter and check out all of their products!

I wish you all good luck in your battle with acne! I know how tough it can be to deal with problem skin. My best advice is to just try out different products that contain different things to help fight acne. And find one that works for you.

Stila On Sale?! WHERE!

For a limited time you can get Stila on sale at Sephora! You need to get on these insanely good deals while they last!

Go go go!

How to: Disinfect Your Makeup!

I want this!

It's super important to clean your makeup! Not just your brushes but your makeup too! This is essential when you're swapping makeup, using it on other people, or just for your personal makeup. Germs are gross and you don't want to spread them all over your face! This can make you break out and even spread diseases, if you're swapping. Disinfecting your makeup is super easy and can be really quick, depending on how much makeup you have. :)

What you need:

  • Rubbing alcohol with 70% or higher
  • Paper towels
  • A spray bottle - one with a fine mist
Pressed Eyeshadow:
Gently wipe off the top layer of shadow and then spritz it until it's saturated with the alcohol and then leave it open to air dry.

Lipsticks:
Spray the entire lipstick and lightly pat it dry. Also spray the cap and let it air dry.

Lip or Eyeliners:
Sharpen off the outer layer and spritz it to saturate it. And let it air dry, spray the cap also.

Cream Blushes, Concealers, Eyeshadow, Gel Eyeliner:
Spray the surface and wipe off the top layer of product with your paper towel and let it air dry.

Not everything can be sanitized!
  • Liquid products; like foundations
  • Loose powder; like pigments and face powder
  • Anything with a wand that gets dipped into a tube; Eyeliner, lipgloss, concealer, mascara
Pressed and loose powder, blushes, bronzers, pigments and other things like that shouldn't be sprayed with any liquids because it can ruin the product. But these products aren't very prone to collecting germs anyway so you should be okay. Just make sure you're using clean brushes.

I hope this was helpful! :)

Maybelline Great Lash Big

$4-6 at Drugstores

Description:
  • Bigger brush for great big live-it-up lashes!
  • The Great BIG Brush plus volume-building formula gives great BIG lashes
  • Volume builds with each coat - no clumps or globs
  • Contact lens safe
  • Ophthalmologist tested

I absolutely love this mascara! I think I got it for around $5 at Walmart. I've been using this product for a while and I'm almost all out! It adds a lot of volume to my lashes making them look full and thick. I love the huge wand! I feel like it coats every lash and builds up volume without the thick, sticky mess that you can often get. It's easy to remove and it doesn't smudge.

The only thing that I don't like about this product is that I found it doesn't add much length. But if you pair this with a lengthening mascara you're set! :)

I definitely recommend this and will be repurchasing! :)

E.L.F Mechanical Eyelash Curler!

$1 @ Eyeslipsface.com or select Target stores

I absolutely love this eyelash curler! And it really works! And my eyelashes never hold a curl. I've been using this for about a year. I've used a lot of different lash curlers and for a while I gave up on using them. Then I discovered this! And I figured if I hated it, it was only a dollar. Turns out I love it! And I use it every day!

Rave:
  • Super affordable!
  • Doesn't pinch
  • Curl lasts
  • Easy to use
  • Lasts a long time
I really don't have a rant about this.. Except that my rubber pad keeps popping out.

I have really short, straight, Asian eyelashes and I'm sure if it'll curl my lashes it'll work on anyone! And it doesn't pinch. Which I absolutely love!

I recommend this curler to everyone who asks for a good one! And for only one dollar! You can't go wrong! :)

BADgal Lash Waterproof!

Benefit's Waterproof BADgal Lash
$19 @ Sephora, Benefit counters or online

Description:

A long-lasting, smudge-proof, waterproof mascara that packs the same black bad-itude as our original BADgal lash for lashes that perform rain or shine.
The slimline brush makes it easy to apply and dries fast so you can add multiple coats in a flash.

Rave:
  • Lasts all day
  • Extremely waterproof [Tear-proof too!]
  • Lengthening
  • Dries quickly
  • Small wand makes for cleaner application

Rant:
  • Extremely hard to take off - you can scrub at your eyes forever in the shower and will hardly make a dent
  • Doesn't add curl
  • Pricey
  • Clumps
  • Thick
  • Formula dried up quickly in the tube
Overall:

I was so excited when I purchased this product after hearing all of the raves about the original BADgal Lash mascara. So I thought I'd try the waterproof. I thought this product was way over hyped and I was extremely disappointed. It added a lot of length but not without several coats that quickly became a hot, clumpy, thick mess! I was so disappointed. And when I tried to take it off that night, it was a nightmare! Normally I can get most of the mascara off in the shower, but this stuck on and smudged all over my eyes.
I will not be repurchasing this product and I do not recommend it! But if you want to try the BADgal Lash mascara get the mini size in the original formula at Sephora for $8.

Hope this review was helpful! :)

What have I been up to?

Extreme couponing! After the TV show on TLC, extreme couponing has been the latest thing! I've recently been inspired to start doing this by my cousin! She runs a beauty blog as well [mybeautyrate.com] and after hearing about all the money that she's saved, especially on beauty products, I've been hooked! I love to shop, especially for makeup! But since my paychecks are next to nothing and with everything being so expensive it's been hard to buy the things I want! So I figure if I can save money I'll be able to buy the things I want! So I did some [ok a lot] of research online and I came across this amazing site!

This site has everything! I mean the latest deals, coupons, and lots and lots of helpful tips! :) If you're a beginner and have no idea where to start [like me!] visit this page! It was so so so helpful for me! They have 10 day check list to help get you started.

If you live in an area that gets the Union Tribune I suggest you sign up for their Sunday paper! It's such a steal! It's $1 a paper and you get it at 7 am every Sunday! $1 is so much cheaper than buying it at one of those machines or a Starbucks! And it gets delivered right to your house!

https://www.subscriber-services.com/sandiego/zipcheck.asp?pid=23

The LA Times also offers Sunday papers for $1! But you have to use this code: 180011. They also allow you up to 3 subscriptions!

Once I start getting the hang of it I'm going to subscribe to more newspapers with several subscriptions. But since I'm only just starting out, I'm taking things slowly. And to start myself off I've purchased a binder to keep everything in and baseball card holders to organize the coupons! I can't wait to get my first paper!

I'll be keeping you guys posted on all of the deals that I can find! Especially on beauty related products! So keep checking back! :)
